Coronavirus Response

This evening the Kirk Session met to pray and discuss our response to the latest advice from the Scottish government in the light of the current Coronavirus crisis. That advice is that “people should minimize social contact by avoiding crowded areas and large gatherings, including religious congregations”. https://news.gov.scot/news/people-advised-to-limit-social-contact

Therefore, the Kirk Session has decided to suspend all Hope Church services and meetings until further notice.

This includes:

Sunday services, morning and evening
House groups, whether at home or at the Hub
The Deacons’ Court meeting scheduled for Thursday 19th March

In order to maintain fellowship Ian, our minister, will record a short service of worship each week. You will receive an email with a link to the broadcast. Also, the church will be open each Sunday from 11am to 12 noon for anyone who wishes to pray there. This open-door policy may be extended to times during the week.

The minister and elders will maintain contact with church members by telephone.

We urge everyone to follow the advice of our government and to err on the side of caution if they feel any symptoms, such as a fever or a persistent cough. Please do not put yourself or others at risk.

Many of us are asking, What is God saying to us through this time of crisis? Psalm 90 may give us one answer (v12): Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

We also recall the words of the Apostle Paul in 2Cor.1:3,4: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

Let us commend ourselves to the care of Almighty God.

Your minister, Ian (on behalf of the Kirk Session)
